Slogans (Tag lines)
Slogans are a great addition to any website.
If you want a slogan added to your header or logo, it is
best to define it the early state of website development.
Slogans are not usually copyrighted. Most
businesses want their own unique slogan, and sometimes
different businesses have the same slogans. This is okay.
Even if a slogan is commonly used, it does not seem to pose
a problem.
What Makes a Good Slogan
Mottos usually do not work. An
example of a motto is: Use my services, I'm the greatest!
Usually you can't brand yourself with a slogan either.
Branding is usually created through the
overall look and feel of a business' printed material and
online website(s). Being that mission statements
are similar to mottos, they are not a good idea either.
Stating a position such as: "We're the
Largest ___ Dealers in the World" may work for some; but
most often, it is debatable and not believable.
However, the best slogans are
brief, catchy one-liners that give an upshot of what you do.
It may include why your business is better than your
competitors. Good slogans are honest and therefore, build
credibility.
